Random run-ins
On the way back to Europe for a few races, the Vonntourage (Lindsey,
Thomas, trainers, etc.) missed their connecting flight and were stuck in the
Frankfurt airport for several hours. Lindsey, the faithful Facebooker, wrote a
note about how she used the time to have some tea and “randomly” bump
into former Croatian World Cup star Janica Kostelic. Kostelic (shown here
at another off-hill moment) read the note and commented that she would
“randomly” see Vonn again in Zagreb — the slalom race is set for Jan. 3.

Lilith Fair
Ski racer turned singer-songwriter Bryon Friedman was
recently chosen by Sirius XM Radio’s Coffee House channel
as one of this year’s top five up-and-coming artists. If he
makes it to the top two, his fate will be decided by the In-
digo Girls, who will award a chance to open for them next
year. “Now I’m gonna ask for more of your love and vote for
us,” read Friedman’s website.

One more reason to be jealous of the guys on the U.S. Ski Team: Thanks to a “beefed-up”
partnership with European Training Base Paganella-Trentino, Italy, they get to travel the
2009-2010 World Cup circuit with this mobile nutrition center. Now that’s some fast food.
