Cross Country Olympic Team Update
While most of the Olympic cross country team was named on Jan. 19 and
covered by Ski Racing in the Jan. 25 issue of the magazine, Simi Hamilton
of Aspen, Colo., a former All American from Middlebury College, was announced Jan. 28 after the USSA received an 11th and final quota spot. Two
athletes were named Jan. 26 in addition to the original eight announced.
Hamilton, who is now training with coaches Travis Jones and Rick Ka-pala in the Sun Valley Olympic Development Program, is one of the fastest
U.S. sprinters. He won four qualifiers in the USSA Super Tour, Canadian
NorAm and U.S. Championship events, and took U.S. title in the freestyle
sprint. Earlier this week, he led sprint qualifying by over a second in the
Under 23 World Championships in Germany.
