Résumé: Gold medal, 2009 FIS Freestyle World Championships; 15-time
World Cup top- 10 finisher including six podiums, 2008 World Cup rookie of the
year in men’s moguls.
Outlook: “I have about 16 starts per year,” says Deneen. “I average about 22 seconds per run. That is
about six minutes of competition per year. I train daily,
10 months out of the year to be at the top of my game. I
better love it and I do. Freestyle is allowing me to ski the
world with some of the best people out there. I am taking time to enjoy the trip. Two years ago I came home
from Inawashiro, Japan, as the 2009 freestyle world
champion. The only thing that could be better than that
would be back-to-back World Championship titles with the second title won
on, what I consider, my home course. I have my sights set on Deer Valley this
year and preparation for the 2010-11 ski season has been focused on that first
weekend in February where I hope to rule [as] champion.”

of intense rehab, he is aiming at the 2011 season to get back on top. “Having
a season-ending injury one month prior to the Vancouver Games was devastating,” says Kashima. “I didn’t let myself dwell on it. Instead, I took the extra
time to get a head start on getting stronger than I was before. I’m very excited
to get back into competition mode and have some fun again!”

2009 World Cup overall moguls champion; two-time
