Maybe ski racers can’t run on fumes. A bit of fuming,
however, is another matter.
Lindsey Vonn came into the Zauchensee women’s World
Cup speed weekend having lost the overall lead with thee
consecutive slalom DNFs. Switzerland’s Lara Gut had just
endured a federation-enforced suspension — the first on
the women’s tour in recent history.
It was time to race.
Lara Gut grabbed her first victory in two years.
Lindsey Vonn had
another heart-stopping
save to take the
Zauchensee downhill.
