Welcome,
Liam Demong!
The U.S. Nordic Combined Team has had a busy few
years (beyond the medals). Following the birth of 2010
medalist Johnny Spillane’s baby, Hadley, last spring, Billy
Demong and wife Katie Koczynski Demong welcomed
another new team member into the world. William Shea
Demong (nicknamed Liam) was born on Jan. 12th in
Park City, Utah. Fellow nordic combined Olympic medalist Todd Lodwick already has two kids — and fans can
watch three of the fastest, most-fly fathers on the planet
at World Championships later this month.
An Army of Support
Before World Championships competition kicked off in Garmisch, members
of the U.S. Ski Team — including Steven Nyman, Travis Ganong, Stacey
Cook and Chelsea Marshall — took time to visit Edelweiss Lodge and Resort, a vacation spot for U.S. service members and their families. The athletes signed autographs and met hundreds of fans who would be cheering
for them over the next two weeks. “It’s fun to come here see familiar faces,
eat American food and get a little piece of home on the road,” said Nyman.
“And those guys know how to party.”
Ride ‘em cowgirl!
At the 2011 SIA Show, the Tecnica/Blizzard booth featured
a mechanical bull called Widow Maker. SIA participants
were encouraged to try out the rodeo as former CU racer
Chris Tatsuno served as MC. Fellow former Buff Lexi
DuPont managed to hang on for 44 seconds — and win
herself a pair of Bodacious skis.
