Rocking the Free Worlds
At Deer Valley, the 2011 FIS Freestyle World Championships
combined the traditional, the new and the radical.
From Feb. 2 to 5, the world class bumps, jumps, pipes and tracks of Deer
Valley and Park City Mountain Resort played host to the world’s top freestyle
skiers at the 2011 World Championships. Athletes poured in from recent World
Cup and X Games competitions to vie for the shiny FIS snowflakes.
These championships had it all: first-time winners, successful title defenders,
a debut event and a whole lot of air. The athletes met their goal of putting on a
good show — and then some — as thousands turned up for the spectacle.
Here’s what caught Ski Racing’s eye.
