Athletes of the Year
Denver’s Sterling Grant made this
a tough decision, notching nothing
but wins in every collegiate slalom
she raced — including victories at the
Winter World University Games and
the NCAA Championships. But Ryley
deservingly wins the award because
she was a better two-event skier this
winter, earning multiple EISA wins in
both slalom and giant slalom en route
to becoming 2011’s only alpine skier
— male or female — to earn first-team
All-American honors in both events at
NCAAs.
