MEN Miles Havlick
COLLEGIATE NORDIC SKIER OF THE YEAR
For the second year in a row, a handful of
skiers from both sides of the country were in
the mix here, with Utah’s Miles Havlick ultimately rising to the top by way of regular-sea-son wins combined with superior place-point
totals at regional and NCAA Championship
events. Havlick won four of the eight RMISA
races he started, landing a pair of seconds and
two fifth-place finishes in the others. He also
smoked the RMISA Champs field in the 10K
free at Soldier Hollow, finished third at NCAAs
in the 10K free, and — despite a big crash
on a very wet day — rallied to sixth place at
NCAAs in the 20K classic. Colorado’s Vegard
Kjoelhamar and Dartmouth skiers Sam Tarling
and Eric Packer were among Havlick’s closest
competitors for this award.
