MEN Ryan Cochran-Siegle
U.S. JUNIOR ALPINE SKIER OF THE YEAR
Ryan Cochran-Siegle was a first-ballot winner of the Junior of the
Year award, and it’s pretty understandable why. At World Juniors he
was the top American finisher in three of the five events (super G,
giant slalom and combined). He won the NorAm super G title, was
second in combined and finished third overall, winning three NorAm
races and finishing second twice. Then he finished third in super
G at US Nationals — not third junior, but third against the national
team.
His figures are very comparable to those put up by the women’s
winner, and better than any we’ve seen from a male U.S. junior for
a few seasons.
