Rossi Rules
It’s my second year on Rossignol. I was on Dynastar the seven before that. If I’m in Europe during the season, I normally travel with two pairs of
boots and 12 pairs of skis.
Back-up Baggage
I use four High Sierra bags. I now carry around a
spare of everything and put it in a separate bag so
if a bag gets lost I’m not hosed. I bring two or three
helmets — a half and two full — plus three or four
pairs of goggles and two pairs of sunglasses. Two
padded and one unpadded speed suit. I usually
carry a baseball hat and a blue beanie I’ve had for
nine years. It’s about the only winter hat I use.
Armour All
I’ve got slalom shin guards, a pole guard and a bar
once in a while. An UnderArmour mouth guard I’ll
be trying out. GS and SG are similar; I use a back
protector also in downhill.
Pole Position
I carry a set of speed poles, two full GS poles and
two or three slalom poles. Since I switched to Swix
I break a lot less (some on gates, or getting on
or off the chairlift). Always good to have a spare
pair.
Off Duty
When freeskiing I wear a half helmet, neck gator,
team pants and jacket, powder skis and I wear a
back protector. Normally in the finish area I stay
in ski boots. After ski footwear changes season
to season. Basketball shoes usually. This season
Nike has a high top that’s insulated, so I’ll be trying
those.
Retro Rocks
I’ve got an old school iPod, third generation. It’s a
hunk of an iPod. I also travel with my computer and
a GoPro camera for doing videos. Not so much
books. I am considering an e-book, but I spend
a lot of time with Tommy Ford filming and editing
video, and that takes a big chunk of time.
