Stratton Mountain School alums Andy Newell and Skyler Davis recently made an appearance at Burlington, Vermont’s Ski Rack, signing posters and talking with customers. The morning after the appearance, Davis conducted a roller-ski clinic for the Mansfield Nordic Club’s junior team at the Ethan Allen Biathlon Range in nearby Jericho. Davis shared some of the training tips he’s learned since making the U.S. Ski Team’s development squad. (Check out the full nordic team preview on page 38.)

During a Eurosport interview ahead of the World Cup opener in Soelden, Lindsey Vonn was asked about her up-and-coming teen teammate Mikaela Shiffrin. After Vonn described Shiffrin as a nice, promising young talent, the interviewer followed up by asking an odd question: “Does she scare you?” Vonn could only laugh and say, “No.”
