THE INSTRUMENTS YOU REALLY NEED FOR FASTER SKIS — WHETHER
YOU’RE A JUNIOR, PARENT, OR ELITE/MASTER BY DAVE PESZEK
Tool Time
In the first issue of Ski Racing this season, we discussed the theory of ski prep; and in Issue
2, we handled the hardware store run for various tuning accessories. Now it’s time to talk about
the tools that are real standouts for design, performance, value, ease, or a little of everything.
Stuff for everyone: With FK Tools brake holders ($7/pair), you’ll be
able to hook and retract any brake and you won’t skin your fingers. They also last forever, and
work with ski gloves on, too. Don’t forget a nice little brass toothbrush for cleaning your files, and
be sure you have a hard and soft gummi rubber on hand, especially if your program is using a
ceramic disk finishing tool such as SnowGlide or TriOne. The Edge Trick ($23) is terrific for for
those times that you roll an edge or nick a rock — it can really save a training session.
