A New Look for Laurenne
After six years with dreadlocks, U.S. speed skier Laurenne
Ross got a buzzcut while at U.S. Alpine Championships. “It
feels really good,” said Ross. “I have kind of been planning on it
all winter, I was going to wait till it got warm, but it’s pretty warm
here. My helmet doesn’t fit any more. I have to wear my headband under my helmet but I think its safe — hopefully.”
New Ski Dimensions
Was Robby Kelley giving us a sneak peek at next year’s
Head slalom stick when he collected his NorAm giant slalom
title in Mont-Sainte-Anne? Perhaps more athletes will start
traveling with podium skis.
Words of Wisdom
USSA Vice President of Communication Tom Kelly jumped into the
action at the NASTAR National Championships, racing in the ProAm
Team race. Seeking advice for quick time, Kelly (who took this photo
of fellow ProAm racers) turned to USSA Competition Director Walt
Evans, who told Kelly, “For a guy like you, the only tip I have is clean
goggles and a trail map.” Kelley’s team finished 14th in a field of 16.
