Mitch, as she’s called by her teammates, had
a banner season as she secured her first World
Cup top- 10 ranking in the slalom in 10th and her
first top-2 5 overall ranking in 21st to earn this
award for the second consecutive year.
The highlight of Gagnon’s season came late in
the year at the Are slalom, where she took third
to earn her first-ever World Cup podium. She had
racked up four World Cup top-10s in previous
seasons but Gagnon took it to a new level this
season by adding seven more. She ended her
season by claiming her fourth Canadian national
slalom title.
A respectful tip of the wide-brimmed Mountie
hat goes to Gagnon’s teammate Erin Mielzynski,
who brought the Canadian women’s team their
first World Cup slalom victory in 4 1 years.
