MEN Patrick Deneen
U.S. FREESTYLE SKIER OF THE YEAR
Patrick Deneen had never finished a World Cup season ranked higher than 12th
in the freestyle overall rankings. This season, the 2009 world champion may have
taken a little while to warm up, but he was white-hot by season’s end to pull in a
second-place overall ranking in both the overall and moguls standings.
Deneen, of Cle Elum, Wash., was consistent all year, only missing the top 10 of a
World Cup contest twice. He made the last push by winning all of the last three du-
als moguls contests of the season.
“It has been a great second half of the season for me,” said Deneen. “I have been
skiing really well and really consistently, and it’s paid off.”
