Spring Series Races Hit Vail, Breckenridge,
Mission Ridge and Sugar Bowl By Hank McKee
Opportunity abounds in the spring racing season. With the
season winding down, rising temperatures and gatherings of
old friends and competitors can raise the energy level accordingly. With the nation focusing on just a handful of events and
no European starts taking the cream of the field, young racers can make strong strides in their point profiles in a comfortable atmosphere. These are the races skiers train so hard to
be ready for.
Ridge attracted a stellar field of competitors for its Spring Se-
ries. Sugar Bowl is also hosting a set of races ideal for show-
casing its J2 class of champions.
At Breck, Thomas Biesemeyer kicked it off with a pair of super
G wins. Jared Goldberg was third in both of those races, once
behind Espen Lysdahl and once behind Canadian U.S. cham-
pion Dustin Cook, which should knock more points off his super
G profile. Brennan Rubie gained some confidence with a fourth
that would help him out a week later. Tanner Farrow helped
himself out with a fifth, and Mark Miller had a good outing with
a pair of top 10 finishes.
