PANTY-HOSED?
By all accounts, Slovenian world champion Tina Maze was a good sport
when the FIS confiscated her underwear after the Bad Kleinkirchheim super G.
The Swiss team had protested, registering their suspicion that the garments
Maze wore under her speed suit wouldn’t meet FIS guidelines. (Like speed
suits, clothing worn under the suit must meet a permeability standard.) An initial
test showed that the garment in question, made by the company Energia Pura,
was legal, but the FIS said they wanted to send it to a lab for further testing. At
first, it was understood that this lab was in Switzerland, but upon arriving in Cortina d’Ampezzo, Maze said her article of clothing was being tested in Milan.
“It’s too sexy for the Swiss,” she quipped.
