The Kaiser Scores Some More
World Cup legend and Bad Kleinkirchheim local Franz Klammer, joined
by two “friends,” lent his iconic image for the promotional poster hyping the
World Cup speed races on the course that bears his name. At 58 years
old, the 26-time World Cup winner still looks smooth.
Sarmageddon!
World Cup sponsor Raiffeisen Grupa decided
to really make spectators at slalom races in
Zagreb, Croatia, feel at home by handing out
28,000 pieces of sarma, a traditional Croatian
delicacy made with cabbage and resembling
an egg roll. The huge amount of sarma was
prepared according to an official recipe of the
Croatian army and distributed to the crowds by
26 certified sarma slingers. “Sarma is a part of
tradition for Croatian skiers because a pot of
sarma is an obligatory piece of equipment when
they are traveling to ski resorts abroad,” read the
event’s official website. So that’s what makes the
Kostelics so fast.
From the downhill to
up on stage
After receiving her first place trophy for the Bad
Kleinkirchheim downhill, multitalented racer Elisabeth
Goergl delighted the large crowd by channeling her
inner Credence Clearwater Revival and Tina Turner by
singing a few verses of “Proud Mary.” Now, what did
YOU do with your Saturday?
