Who Needs Four Stars When You Have a Jules? American star ski racer and hotel critic Julia Mancuso kicked up quite stir in Cortina when she asked her Facebook following of more than 100,000 where a good hotel in Cortina was. “From our experience, 4 stars really means 2... I just want to wake up rested in the morning!!!” wrote Mancuso. More than 150 people comment- ed on the post, some reprimand- ing the Olympic gold medalist for being spoiled. The local paper picked up on the complaint and
ran a story about it in the next day’s edition, including a photo of
Mancuso in a bikini.
“That was unfortunate that they made a big article, because the
people at the hotel were not very happy about that,” Mancuso
said. “My point was, it’s not about the stars; we should be given
a clean place to stay. I just felt like our hotel was clean but it’s
old, and I had the feeling there was mold in the walls. Of course
I didn’t want it to be a big deal, but that’s what happens sometimes.”
She later took to Facebook to clear up any doubt about her
feelings for the Italian town. “I love Cortina. It’s always my favorite. I love the people, the race hill and the town! I’m sorry if any
of you ever doubted that!!”
Tim and Jerry
The next time you’re having a bad day at the
mountain, take a look around to see if Colton
Hardy is nearby. Hardy, who started cataloging
boneheaded moves on his “Jerry of the Day”
on his Facebook page, has now created the
official website at jerryoftheday.blogspot.com.
The original Jerry? None other than Hardy’s
own teammate, Tim Kelley, who forgot his shin
guards for training one day and then had his
191 cm GS skis accidentally “borrowed” the
next. Fortunately, they were returned by Ashley
Langlands, who grabbed them from the rack at
Stowe and drove off, believing they were her
181s.

that participated in the international event, designed to emphasize the
importance of providing opportunities for children to experience the joy
of skiing and snowboarding.
