Travis Ganong has a new role and respon-
sibility on tour this season — one that the 23-
year-old downhiller isn’t taking lightly.
The Squaw Valley resident has become the
go-to-stylist when it comes to giving rookie
haircuts, an honored U.S. Ski Team tradition.
Ganong takes over the all-important job once
cherished by Ted Ligety.
“I’ve gotten to cut, like, five guys’ hair now;
its pretty sweet,” said Ganong in Garmisch-
Partenkirchen. “I had never cut anyone’s hair
before.”
While the free-spirited Californian seems to
be relishing the creativity that comes along
with his new position, it hasn’t come without
hardship.
“We’ve gone through the rounds and now that
my trimmer is out of battery and I’ve lost my
charger, I can’t cut my own beard,” he said.
