One restaurant named Atmosphere is found in a small log
cabin recently renovated on the main motorway. The menu
is extensive — I just can’t tell you what is on it. We successfully navigated a few words with the waiter and had a fantastic Caesar salad with chicken plus traditional main courses
of grilled steak and pork washed down with traditional Russian Krusovice lager. Dinner for two with beer: around $100,
including two free mugs. Great live entertainment with a
Kenny G-like saxophonist and a parakeet.
The hit of the trip was Achishkho, serving Georgian cuisine in a wonderful cabin set alongside a stream. The dining rooms are brightly lit with huge fur seat cushions on the
wood-carved seats. Our local hosts helped us order appetizers of various breads with cheese, pickles and the ever-popular lard with garlic (and do be careful of that hot mustard
sauce). Our main course consisted of skewers of chicken
and pork. We later visited the chickens in the coop on a
pathway outside the restaurant.
