WAXROOM

Power What? Athletes love journalists, especially those with oddball questions (just ask Bode Miller). After wrapping up the 2012 Winter Dew Tour’s overall slopestyle Dew Cup trophy, U.S. Freeskiing’s Tom Wallisch was posed this beauty by a reporter. “Would you say that slopestyle is essentially power gymnastics?” “Not in the slightest,” responded Wallisch with a stone face. “I am nether powerful nor a gymnast. I just ski every day.”
Skipping the Red Bull
The U.S. women’s speed team
indulged in a “taste” of mother
Russia before the Olympic test
World Cups. What’s a trip to Russia
without a little vodka?
Who was doing the translation when the World Cup men arrived
at the alpine skiing venue for the Sochi Games? The AFP reported
that Bode Miller was grumbling about the downhill course-set,
lamenting that the way it was prepared was “not what we want to
show for an Olympic downhill at all.” The headline from the same
press conference shared by Russian news agency RIA Novosti:
“Bode Miller Heaps Praise on Sochi Ski Venue.” And, judging by
the look of the military, the Waxroom will stop right there.
