THE CHAMPIONSHIPS WINTER PARK 2012
Last year the Trudeau sisters took second, behind the Clausen family, in the Family Challenge. This
year, the Family Challenge will be held on March 26 for family teams of three or more to compete against
other families.
As the NASTAR rules read: “Family teams are scored using the NASTAR handicap system to level
the playing field for all team members. Each team member scores points for their team based on the
handicap they earn in their age and gender group. The top three point gainers from each team will be
used to score points for their team. The number of team points earned by these top point gainers are
added together and divided by three to get the final Team Score.”
Although Brianna suffered a season-ending injury on Jan. 8, Samantha will compete without her. Brianna
hopes to be back on snow in April and has high goals for future NASTAR racing.
“I want to win the Race of Champions, and the trip to Chile,” says Brianna.
“NASTAR brings families together around ski racing,” says Wayne. “It’s like shooting hoops; I get to race
on the same course as they do. If you ask Bri, ‘Would you rather win a gold medal or beat Dad?’ she’ll
say, ‘Beat Dad.’”
